| Tips on Designing and Ordering Lapel Pins Cost
The price of a pin is based on many things. There are too may variables
to be able to produce a price list. If you know the size, how many
colors, production style, backing, when they are needed and how
many are needed we can give you a quote. The information below will
help you determine these details.
Colours
When designing your own pin you can have up to 4 colors at no additional
cost. The colors, except hard enamel pins, are picked from the Pantone
Color Chart. So the choices are seemingly endless. Hard enamel pin
colors are picked from a different chart with fewer choices but
still we can match almost any shade. Each color must be surrounded
be a wall of metal.
Metals
The pin is stamped with your design then the colors are painted
or poured in. In most cases the lettering will be the metal instead
of a color surrounded by metal. This is because the lettering is
too small to outline then fill with color. The metal colors you
have to pick from are silver, gold and nickel (black).
Size
The size of a pin is determined by its widest or tallest measurement.
If a pin is 1” x .5” the size quoted on will be 1”.
Quantity
The minimum order on pins is 100. The prices change at the 100’s
though you can get any quantity you need as long as it’s over
100.
Backing
There are 3 different type of backing. The lest commonly used is
the hatpin clasp. This is a short straight pin with a twist on anchor
that won’t easily come off. Second is the spinning jewel clasp.
This is a longer straight pin with a spinning closure. The third
and most commonly used clasp is the butterfly clasp. Instead of
having a twist on anchor like the hatpin style it closes around
the straight pin then is released when pinched.
Delivery and Shipping
The regular delivery time for pins is 4-6 weeks. The physical time
it takes to stamp, paint and fire pins is longer than crests. In
Canada the shipping cost for pins is $12.00 for fewer than 500 pieces
and $20.00 for 500 and over. You are welcome to use your own courier
or pick up your order if you would like.
Sending Art
We do not require you to send vector artwork. Any kind of direction
that includes a small sketch will be fine. We realize that many
people art not artistically inclined and don't want to attempt to
draw their own crest. If you can just indicate where you would like
things to layout as well as lettering with correct spelling, this
would be sufficient. We work on PC, mainly in Corel Draw. We can
accept any PC based file format.
